Vata

People with a dominant dosha vata are very active – mobile, restless and energetic. They have a fast metabolism, are often lean, with poor muscle development, and protruding joints that frequently crack. Their skin isdry, rough and thin with visible veins. Sleeping, eating and personal habits are not regular. They are talkative and enjoy all forms of communication. As far as mental and emotional aspects are concerned, they are fearful, anxious, nervous and often stressed.

Food products that increase dosha vata include cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, lettuce, mushrooms, parsley, peas, peppers, spinach, corn, raw tomatoes, lentils, white or rye bread, soy products, yeast spreads, smoked products, dried fruit. Very cold food and drinks increase vata, too. Eating when you are anxious or stressed may also make vata considerably worse.

There are eighty types of disorders or diseases resulting from vata imbalance. All conditions caused by dryness (lack of fluids), excess amount of air, such as problems with mobility, dry skin, dandruff, premature aging, constipation, joint pain, paralysis, dizziness, delirium, headache, palpitations, insomnia, anxiety, depression, muscle stiffness, memory loss are caused by dosha vata imbalance.
